CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

The Genders and Sexualities Alliance will meet after school today and every Friday in the Library Media Center Info Hub. This is a safe place for discussion and socializing for anyone in the LGBTQ community and Allies.

There will be an Authentic Voices meeting in the Cafeteria during 2nd period on Tuesday, September 4th. All members and newly interested students are welcome to attend. Please check in with your teacher in advance.

Attention Line O ‘Type Editors: Please plan to attend our first meeting this Tuesday, September 4th after school in room B206.  This is Mrs. Norcross’s room.  We will be discussing Homecoming activities, training, and planning our first issue of the year.  Please see Mrs. Norcross if you are unable to attend the meeting.

For those interested in wrestling this season, who are not in a fall sports there will be a meeting in Coach Ruettiger room C123 Friday after school.

Moline Blue Marlins Swim Club wants you!  All students and all ability levels are invited to open try outs on September 5, 6, and 7th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Moline High School pool.  Members of the Board of Directors will be present on these nights to answer all of your questions.

MISC

Attention all artists: the MHS Theatre is looking for designs for posters and T-shirts for this year’s productions. If you’d like to submit a drawing or graphic design to go on all the MHS Theatre posters, see Mrs. Koski or an art teacher today. Designs are due Tuesday to Mrs. Koski. Questions about the poster contest? See Mrs. Koski in J210 or the Theatre Callboard outside the library.

Any sophomore interested in Homecoming float building, please sign up outside of room B210.

Please check your emails for the Google form ballot to cast your vote for the 2018 Homecoming King and Queen. Voting closes on September 4th at 3pm.

Chamber Choir auditions will be next week on September 5th and 6th before school. Sign-ups are located in the choir room. See Ms. Callahan with any questions.

Tri-M Music Honor Society will be having its first mandatory meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 4th from 3:15-4:15 in the choir room. All current Tri-M members need to attend.

Freshmen and sophomores interested in studying abroad next year, or traveling abroad next summer, or hosting a foreign student in their home, are invited to attend an informational presentation for students and parents on Tuesday September 4th at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria.  The Moline Rotary Club Youth Exchange Program is offering the opportunity for a Moline High School student to be selected to receive a scholarship to attend high school in another country during the 2019-20 school year, or to participate in a summer cultural exchange with a student in another country during summer. Art Club’s first meeting will be held today to welcome new members. You do not need to be in an art class to join this group for activities and open studio. We will discuss upcoming events, projects and elections for student leadership. See you there!

Student-led Bible Study will meet tomorrow after school in J227 starting at 3:10 and ending at 3:40.  All are welcome.

Juniors and Seniors who would like to explore the 19 majors available at WIU QC and take a tour of the campus:  There will be a field trip to Western Illinois University Quad Cities for those juniors and seniors who have at least a 2.6 cumulative grade point average and seniors who have at least a 940 SAT score on Friday, Sept. 28th.  If you are interested in attending WIU QC, please sign up for the field trip in the Counseling Center.  Transportation and lunch will be provided.

Attention all students!  During homecoming week there will be a mini volleyball tournament while we are at Wharton Field House on Wednesday.  If you are interested in playing, stop by Ms. Fetter’s room B316, and sign up on your grade level roster sheet.  Any IN SEASON athletes will not be allowed to participate in the tournament.  The deadline to sign up will be Wednesday, September 5th.  Spots may be limited, depending on numbers, so sign up now!  More details to come once teams are set.

For those who missed the Kaleidoscript meeting on Monday please stop in B215 today after school to catch up and sign up for Homecoming activities.

Drama Club is today after school in the small west gym. All are welcome for games, snacks, and theatre announcements. See Mrs. Koski in J210 if you have questions about Drama Club or the Fall Play.

Student Congress will meet at 7:30am in room D125 on Wednesday.  All students are invited to attend and participate.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting tomorrow morning (Wednesday) at 7:30 am in D137.  Please stop in if you are interested in finding out more about FCA.  Doughnuts and juice will be provided as we discuss our plans for the upcoming year.

The Fall Play is VOLLEYGIRLS, a comedy that requires a lot of leads, supporting roles, extras, and crew members.  See the callboard outside of the library for sign-ups and applications.

The girls swim team had a successful evening against Davenport West.  The Junior Varsity team won with a score of Moline – 124, Davenport West – 8.  The Varsity team also won with a score of Moline – 142, Davenport West – 33.  Congratulations on a great start to the season!

If you are interested in becoming part of the “MHS Super Fans” this fall, there will be a mandatory meeting today right after school in the Cafeteria.
