Please come join us for a Steamwheelers Arena Football game on March 31st at 7:00 pm at the Taxslayer Center.  The Steamwheelers will take on the Kansas City Phantoms.  The game is called “Moline Maroons Night”.  If you purchase tickets through their website, 20% of all ticket sales go back to Moline High School.  Go to steamwheelersfootball.com and type in the promo code MOL.  The MHS Pep Band will be performing, as well as the MHS Contemporaires and cheerleaders.  See you on March 31st at the Taxslayer Center.  Email Mr. Knar at rknar@molineschools with any questions.

The 80s are back!  The “M” and Line O’ Type are sponsoring a spring dance of fun and 80s fashion.  On Friday, April 20th, steal your parents’ stonewashed jeans or leg warmers and spray your hair until the can is empty, so you can dance the night away to your favorite songs of the 80s (and beyond).  Tickets go on sale when we return from break on April 2nd and are only $5.00 for the first week.  This is a dance where you don’t need a date, a new outfit, or a ton of money for an expensive dinner.  Just have fun!

Tonight is the MHS Special Olympics team’s first annual March Madness fundraiser at Wharton Field House from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  Join us for this fun, family friendly event to raise money for MHS Special Olympics.  We will have raffle baskets, a bake sale, and fun halftime competitions for great prizes.

Tri-M Music Honor Society will be selling treats today and tomorrow during lunch and after school.  They will be easy to spot with bunny ears on. Find a Tri-M member to get your sweet tooth fix in today.

Dennis Liegghio will be giving an inspirational presentation providing hope, tools to build resiliency and other resources to prevent suicide in our youth. You don’t want to miss this! Kids’ Chance Inc. of Illinois Scholarship – Applicants must have a parent who has been killed or seriously injured as a result of a work related accident that meets the criteria of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act and has resulted in financial need. Deadline of April 30th.

All seniors who are planning on attending Black Hawk College, Gabriella Hurtado, the BHC recruiter will be here at MHS all day on Tuesday, March 20th to help students complete their application and all steps for enrollment.  Black Hawk College will begin registration for next fall in April.  It is important to be ready to register on time to get the best class schedule.  Sign up in the Counseling Center.

Rock Island County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship and Keppy Foundation Scholarship -Open to seniors enrolling in any technical/trade program, 2 year or 4 year college. Applicants must be members or dependents of members of the Rock Island County Farm Bureau. Deadline of March 29th.

Applicants needed for the Moline Rotary Foundation Scholarship! Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to MHS seniors planning to continue their education. Awards will be given based on active involvement in service-oriented activities, leadership and academic achievement. *Active membership in the Moline High School Interact Club is preferred. Deadline of March 16th.

Over 38 scholarships are open to high school seniors through the Moline Foundation. Visit MolineFoundation.org to apply. Deadline of March 16th.

You may see people twinning today. You’ll have to ask them about how it connects to the winter play. Be sure to come to John Deere Middle School auditorium this Thursday, Friday, or Saturday to see East of the Sun and West of the Moon.  The show starts at 7:00 PM and student tickets are $5.00.

Because of the renovations in our auditorium, the play will be at John Deere Middle School on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00 pm. You’ll laugh, you’ll have fun, and you’ll eat concessions at intermission. Don’t miss East of the Sun and West of the Moon this weekend.  Student tickets are only $5.00.

Cobham Diversity Scholarship – Open to students who are members of a minority group (female and/or racial or ethnic). Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or above and be enrolled in a full-time STEM degree program (particularly a two-year technical degree program) for 2018-2019 academic year. Deadline of April 12th.

Quad Cities Lodging Association Scholarship – Three scholarships open to college or trade school bound students pursuing a career in the hospitality field. Deadline of April 20th.

If you are interested in playing summer baseball, Moline Little League has open enrollment for this year’s Junior League and Babe Ruth league for this upcoming season.  If you turned 18 on or after January 1st of this year, you are eligible to play.  Please register online at www.molinelittleleague.org or come this Saturday to the Coolidge building between 1:00 and 2:00 to get signed up.  There are flyers in the Athletic Office for more information.
