CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

Auditions for the Fall Play are today at 3-5:30 in the auditorium. If you are interested in being involved in the Fall Play, stay after school in the auditorium today to read from the script and play some theatre games. If you are unable to attend, please see Mrs. Koski in room J210.

History Club will have its first meeting of the year today after school in room E214. Anyone that is interested is encouraged to come.

Anyone interested in Crime Stoppers:  There will be a brief informational meeting today at 3:15 in room B128.  If you can’t attend, you can leave your name with Detective Brownell or Ms. Gonzalez in the Attendance Office.

Attention all Line O’ Type Staff:  Please come to the paper’s first planning meeting today in B206, Mrs. Norcross’s room.  If you didn’t apply to the paper last year but are interested in writing or taking pictures for the paper, please come to the meeting anyway and fill out an application while here.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Norcross in B206.

Art Club will hold its first meeting today in room E111 from 3:10 to 4:00.

The first French Club meeting will be today after school in Ms. Ciucci’s room, J323.  French Club is open to all MHS students.  The meeting will be held from 3:10-3:25.  See you all there!

Students interested in being an officer in the Random Acts of Kindness Club need to see Ms. Hays in B217 or email her before 4th period Friday.

The Gay Straight Alliance has changed its name to Gender and Sexuality Alliance (still GSA) to be more inclusive and to better define our purpose. We will be meeting in the Library Media Center on Fridays after school beginning September 8th. This is a mostly social support group that welcomes everyone to conversation in a safe environment.

Do you want to see the world? Do you love to try new things? Come to the Library Media Center after school on Thursday, September 7th to meet with other travelers to review itineraries and pick a destination for the big MHS summer of 2019 trip! If you cannot make this meeting, but have interest in traveling; please see Mrs. Mesick in the Library Media Center prior to the 7th to have a voice on the itinerary.

Attention Freshmen, Sophomores & Juniors:  If you do not have a picture on your ID, please go to B223 before school, after school or during your lunch tomorrow.

All students:  When using the patio at lunch time, please keep in mind that classes are in session surrounding the courtyard and not to linger around the windows.

Juniors and Seniors:  Please make note of a date change for your calendar.  Jr/Sr Prom has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 12th.  The event will be held at the Figge Museum in Davenport from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.

Attention all Link Crew and Student Council members. There will be a quick meeting after school today in the Library. This meeting will be brief.

Attention Line O’Type editors, please come to a brief mandatory meeting in room B206, Mrs. Norcross’s room, after school today. See Mrs. Norcross if you are unable to attend.

Roosevelt Elementary School is looking for students to volunteer for their school carnival on Sept. 8th. Please see Mrs. Thompson in the Counseling Center for sign up times.

Intramural sports will be having a Disc Golf tournament Sept 20th for its first event this year. There will be Visa gift card prizes for both the male and female champion plus and random winner for participating. If you are interested, please stop by the by the bookstore to get the information sheet.

A reminder that Special Olympics bowling practice is after school today.  Please meet outside of J130 by 3:10 pm.

Drama Club will begin this Tuesday (tomorrow). If you’re interested in being in Drama Club, join us for our first meeting. If you like acting, dancing, singing, working backstage, or just going to see shows in the Quad Cities or Chicago or Des Moines, join Drama Club. If you have questions, talk to Mrs. Koski in room J210. See you tomorrow after school for Drama Club in the Auditorium.

Backpacks cannot be brought to classes, including P.E., and need to be kept in lockers during the school day.

Don’t forget that Picture Day is tomorrow!  School pictures will be taken during the P.E. and Health classes.  The dates and times are Tuesday, August 29th for 9th and 10th graders from 7:15 to 3:00 pm and Wednesday, August 30th for 11th graders and Health classes from 7:15 to 2:00 pm.  The location will be in the auditorium.

If you missed the “Super Fan” meeting after school on Wednesday, please pick up an information sheet at your class meetings today in the auditorium, or stop by the Student Affairs office.  Let’s show our Maroon Spirit at the first home football game tonight.  The theme for tonight’s game is “BEACH”.  Our next home soccer game is next Thursday; Aug. 31st. Super fans are open to all classes.

Kaleidoscript, Moline’s creative arts magazine, will hold its first meeting of the year today in B215 @ 3:15 pm. All students interested in creative writing, publishing and layout, and artistic expression should plan to attend! We will be electing officers for the year. Please see Mrs. MacLennan or Ms. Hays with any questions.

Varsity members of the Academic Team will have a brief meeting to elect officers today after school in E102.  It shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes if you are prompt.

Interact Club will be meeting today after school in room J128.

There will be a Student Congress meeting in E204 at 7:30 on Friday morning. Any student interested in joining Student Congress is encouraged to attend.
