The QC Scholars will meet today after school at 2:10 in E204. Important dates will be discussed.

There will be a Sports Unlimited Christmas activity on Thursday (tomorrow).  It will begin right after school in the cafeteria.   Hope to see you all there–it will be fun!

Kaleidoscript will have a meeting on Thursday after school in room B215. Please bring a simple seasonal snack to share with staff.

COUNSELING CENTER

AFS Project: Change Scholarship – 9th-12th graders are eligible to enter to win one of ten scholarships to volunteer abroad. This has a deadline of January 17th.

Nursing Schools Almanac: 2017 Aspiring Nurse Scholarship – $1,000 scholarship awarded to a senior who plans to pursue college education in nursing, demonstrates academic excellence and is passionate about the profession. This has a deadline of June 30th. Visit the Counseling website for details and an application.

2017 Graduates:  Please check your name on the diploma list outside the Registrar’s Office.  This is how it will appear on your diploma.  Make all changes with Mrs. Valdes.  Changes made after January 15th, 2017 will cost $5.00.

There will be a Project HEAL meeting today after school in Mr. Mahieu’s room B318.  We will be making Christmas/holiday cards for people in treatment centers.  All are welcome.

There will be a Crime Stoppers meeting today after school in room B131.

Booked for Lunch will be having its meeting today during your lunch. See you there!

There is a mandatory meeting for all students involved with this year’s Fall Play, Madcap Alice, today in E204 right after Drama Club after school. This is an informational meeting regarding Theatre Fest.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be meeting Wednesday morning in room E114 at 7:30.  All students are welcome to join us.

P.E.O. Chapter KT $500 Scholarship: Applicant must be female student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must submit an essay and letter of recommendation. This has a deadline of April 1st.

1st Gateway Credit Union Scholarship: Three $600 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors that are credit union members and plan to attend a college or vocational school on a  full-time basis in the fall semester 2017. This has a deadline of February 17th.

The Moline Public Library’s Anime Club will meet after school today at 3:30. Bring your anime and manga for the exchange.

Illinois Chemical Education Foundation High School Senior Scholarship – $2,000 scholarships open to top high school senior science students interested in careers in the field of science. Deadline of February 17th.

Moline Foundation’s scholarships have been released early this year with over $50,000 worth of scholarships available. Visit the Counseling Website for a link to the online application and further details. Deadline of March 15th.

Buy tickets for the student and staff raffles from Share Joys elves until Period 4 today.  We will draw for prizes Period 5.  If you win a prize, you can pick it up on Monday during lunch in the auditorium lobby.

Attention anyone who is thinking about traveling to Europe on the MHS trip in 2018…it’s a one day black Friday sale today, there will be a $100 Travel Friday Discount if you enroll today only. The discount will NOT show up on your enrollment site, but will be applied retroactively on Monday 12/12/16 for all qualifying travelers.  Sign up today…there are only 8 spots left.

Come to the Moline Public Library tonight at 6:00 to take part in a holiday service project. Make cards and ornaments to be donated to local nursing homes while enjoying snacks and a movie.

Share Joys reminders:

Students are not to go to other Share Joys activities that are not being hosted by their class or department.  For example:  English classes will be selling food in B wing or J wing second floor, but this is only open to students who are in these English classes.

Also, there should be no backpacks during the class day.  These are to be kept in your lockers.

Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship Program – Applicants must provide proof of financial need and maintain at least a “C” average. Deadline of February 28th.

Better Business Bureau’s Torch Awards for Ethics: Student of Integrity Award – $2,500 scholarship awarded to student who demonstrates sound character and ethical decision making. Only ONE application will be accepted from Moline High School. Students should bring their completed essay and information on school involvement, community involvement, future plans and transcripts and two letters of recommendation to the Counseling Center. One candidate will be selected to complete the official online application. Deadline of January 13th.

Any girls interested in Soccer:  Open Gym will start today in the East Gym from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Chromebooks can be charged from 7:30 to 8:10 am and during lunch in the Library.

Quad City Engineering Council is looking for high school volunteers to assist with the First Lego League competition this Saturday and Sunday at the Putnam Museum. Please, see Mrs. Mesick in the Library Media Center to sign up for a shift. Over 1,000 area Middle School students attended the qualifying round last weekend to move on to the next level. Please, consider giving back to your community for a few hours this weekend.

Congratulations to the Special Olympics basketball team. Our team took 2nd place at the Canton Holiday Hoops Tournament on Saturday! Way to go!

Donut Eating Teams:  Congratulations on raising over $14,000.00 for Share Joys.  Please make sure to turn in all of your pledges by Wednesday, Dec. 7th.  Collect the money this weekend and turn it in Monday, so you can enjoy Share Joys next week.

Students and Staff:  Buy your Share Joys tickets at the bookstore today!  Starting Monday, Share Joys elves will be selling delicious treats and raffle tickets.  Staff can win a 50″ Samsung Smart T.V., 2 rounds of golf at TPC Deere Run, a night’s stay at Stoney Creek, a Keurig, and many awesome prizes.  Students can win a 39″ smart T.V., a drone with video camera, an iCHI ceramic hairstyling iron, a Wicked audio mini speaker, a Fit bit, a $50.00 Ducky’s gift certificate, and lots of gift cards to local businesses.

Davenport Jaycees Foundation Scholarship – Applicants must volunteer in the community and demonstrate a high level of academic achievement. Deadline of February 1st.

ABODO I Heart My School Scholarship – Applicants must write an essay about what they will bring to college and its significance. Deadline of August 31st.
