There will be a meeting of the Gay Straight Alliance in the Media Center after school Friday. Fundraising materials will be distributed. If you cannot attend, but want to help with the fundraiser, see Mrs. Cook Gregory in E311 or Mrs. Mesick in the Media Center.

COUNSELING CENTER

This is a reminder to all senior students that John Cervantes Scholarship is due this Friday, April 1st.  This scholarship is worth $4000 and is open to MHS students only.  Applications may be accessed from the counseling website.

Juniors–If you are interested in going to a summer program at the U.S. Naval Academy, please come to the Counseling Center for more information.

Students who are 16 years of age and are interested in a Science and Engineering Apprentice Program offered by the Arsenal this summer, please come to the Counseling Center for more information.

Seniors planning to attend Black Hawk College next fall:  Please come to the Counseling Center to sign up for a time to meet with BHC and ISAC representatives Gabi Hurtado and Monica Hill on Friday April 8th at MHS.  Advising for next year will take place beginning in April, so it is important that you complete all of the steps to enrollment.

Attention all seniors:  The Business and Technology Department Honors list has been posted outside the classrooms of Business teachers on B-Wing 3rd floor.  Seniors earning 5 semesters of A grades in Business and Technology classes are eligible for department honors. If you have questions please ask any Business and Technology teacher.

The Social Studies Departmental Honors List is posted outside room E217.  See Mr. Ehlers if you have any questions.

For the first time MHS will host a Dance Marathon on April 15th to benefit the Iowa Children’s Hospital. Posters are hung up around the building with a QR code you scan to sign up. Registration is $10 and all money goes to the Iowa Children’s Hospital.

If anyone is interested in the student bookstore worker position starting this summer – Please stop by the bookstore and pick up an application.

The Moline Public Library will host a MaKey MaKey workshop tonight at 6:00. Sign up to learn how to turn everyday objects into game controllers, music makers, and more.

The KWQC Broadcast Scholarship is now available.  Applications may be accessed from the counseling website.  This scholarship has a due date of May 6.

Moline High School Students are invited to participate in an extraordinary Youth Leadership camp for high school students. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Weekend (RYLA) is May 6-8, 2016 at NIU’s Taft Field Campus.  Students are invited to a RYLA informational meeting tomorrow at 3:10pm in the MHS cafeteria.

Moline also represented in Performance in the Round with a team of Adam Sanders, Allissa Krogman, Carolyn Wehr, Chase Austin, Emma Kindred, Erin Golden, Ethan Johnson, Gabi Lenger, Hannah Frye, Janie Adams, Liz Antolik, and Shaelyn Ryan

Both Humorous Duet Acting and Performance in the Round were Sectional Champions of the tournament.

Of these events, Aaron Miller and Quinn Daley advanced in Humorous Duet Acting placing 13th in the state and Performance in the Round advanced placing 7th in the state.

The Moline Public Library is hosting a Poetry Contest for Teens. Visit the library or go online to get an entry form and submit one original poem of up to 25 lines for a chance to win up to $25. Entries are due April 9.

Please plan ahead to stay for extra help at After School Tutoring tomorrow.  Tutoring is available from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. in B325.  Take advantage of this opportunity to get assistance with your assignments.

Congratulations to the Special Olympics Basketball team for getting 2nd place at State! Also, to Logan Frazelle who received a bronze medal for his participation in the individual basketball skills competition.  Thank you to everyone who supported the team and especially the Sports Unlimited group who helped and has supported the team this whole season.
