Attention seniors:  If you did not get your senior portrait taken at Photographic Arts, you can have it taken on Tuesday, December 1st.  A photographer will be here from 7:30 until 12:30 and will be located in the Auditorium Lobby.  Don’t miss this opportunity!  It is your last chance to get your picture in the 2016 yearbook!

Come one; come all to the 23rd Annual Donut Eating Contest sponsored by Donut Delight in the East Gym at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2nd.  Who will be the 2015 Top Banana, Big Donut, King, or Queen!  Come see the action!

Donut Eating Teams–Your pledge sheets are due today to Mrs. Ryser in the Counseling Center.  Please total your pledges and bring your team’s sheets down by 3:00 p.m.

Special Olympics Basketball practice will be held here at the high school on Tuesday after school.  Please go to Mrs. Hocker’s classroom after school.

COUNSELING CENTER

The PEO KT Scholarship is now available to graduating female senior students.  Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA.  The deadline for this scholarship is April 1 and may be downloaded from the counseling website.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of all who threaten it!  Yes, the Navy will be at Moline High School today.  If you have any questions, see Mr. Woods.

Any seniors wishing to send official transcripts to colleges for a December 1st deadline should come to the Counseling Center by noon on Friday to make the request.

Congratulations to all the acts selected for the Share Joys Talent Show!  Please see Ms. Shelton in E-208 to fill out your information sheet prior to leaving for Thanksgiving!

The Media Center will again host individuals or teams who would like to paint a window for Share Joys. If you would be interested in decorating a window, please select which pane this week. Painting will begin when we return from fall break to be completed by December 9th. Staff and students may vote for their favorite window with Share Joys tickets.

Congratulations to the Moline JV Academic Team on their outstanding finishes at the 2015 Curtis Butterfield Memorial Scholastic Bowl Tournament! The Moline A Team, captained by Riya Jain with Ryan Lodico, Shiv Puri, Sam Baker, Sklier Wallace, Courtney Declercq, and Taylor Groom came in 2nd of 24 teams, and the Moline B Team, captained by Connor Kvamme with Mikki Rajvanshi, Collin Stewart, Omar Babu, Prachi Patil, and Sanjana Yerrapathu came in 4th of 24 teams. Riya Jain and Mikki Rajvanshi were also selected as the Most Valuable Players on their respective teams.

Coach Kim Anderson and the all the JV players would like to thank Coach Holly Anderson and the Varsity Academic Team players for running this successful tournament! Mr. Butterfield would have been proud of all!

NHS Members:  Raffle Committee–Follow up phone calls should be made by Tuesday, November 17th (tomorrow).  The elf meeting is tomorrow at 3:00 in B131.

MHS Students:  We are still in need of three more Donut Eating Teams. Please see Mrs. Ryser in the Counseling Center today if you can help out.

The Illinois PTA Scholarship is now available to graduating seniors.  Applicants must have a 3.o GPA and be pursuing a degree in an education related field.  Applications may be found on the Counseling Website.  This scholarship has a due date of February 15, 2016.

River Valley Cooperative is now offering ten scholarships in the amount of $1000 each for graduating seniors planning on pursuing an ag related field.  Applications may be found on the Counseling Website.  This scholarship has a due date of January 31.

SPORTS

That’s how we roll!  Girls bowling tryouts will start today at 3:30.  Make sure all forms are turned in.  If you have any questions, see Mr. Woods in the Counseling Center.

Intramural basketball starts this Wednesday at 6:00 P.M.  All forms and money for participants is due by 8:00 A.M. tomorrow.

Any junior male that is interested in attending the Illinois Boys State Program this summer in Charleston should come to the Counseling Office and see Mr. Bodeen.  The local American Legion will pay for two individuals from Moline High School to attend this week long camp that focuses on American Government.

Job Opportunity:  Join the Auntie Anne’s crew making pretzels.  For more information, see Mrs. Thompson in the Counseling Center.

All Academic Team members, JV and Varsity, need to check in with Mrs. Kim Anderson after school today in E314 to get tournament details and t-shirts.  Our Tournament is this weekend!

Moline High School has the opportunity to host an April 9th online ACT test for half-price to any interested junior or senior.  In order to participate, MHS would have to guarantee at least 80 student participants willing to pay $19.75 for the online ACT.  This is considered a national test administration, and scores will be college-reportable.  If you are interested in participating in this online ACT, please give your name to Mrs. Thompson in the counseling center no later than Friday, November 13.  If we have enough student interest, we will contact ACT for official registration information and pass it along to interested students.

All are welcome to tryout and you must have all music, script and costumes ready to go at tryouts.  Sign up for your tryout slot in room E208.

The Moline Public Library’s Anime Club will meet after school at 3:30. Bring your anime and manga for the exchange.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is holding a promotion this week to help out the Student Hunger Drive.  If you stop at their store, please be sure to drop your receipt into the Moline High School container.  The promotion runs through this Sunday and Orange Leaf will donate 10% of the MHS sales to our Student Hunger Drive!  At the end of the week, they will also match the donation of the school that gets the highest amount in sales that week.  Please consider treating yourself and helping out the Hunger Drive!
