Attention “M” Staff Photographers:  There is a meeting after school on Thursday.  Please go to B201 immediately after school so we can begin the meeting promptly.

This is a reminder to all Line O’ Type reporters who were assigned stories for this issue:  All stories should be uploaded to Trello and shared with you editor.  If you’ve typed your story in Google Docs, please remember to share your story with your editor or Lineotype@molineschools.org or Lineotype@gmail.com.

COUNSELING CENTER

Where can you visit with over 90 colleges and universities all in the same place?  Black Hawk College Night is Thursday, October 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Black Hawk College gymnasium in Building 3.  You can get all of your college questions answered in one place.

Seniors who would like to participate in College Application Day on October 6th during your P.E. classes, but did not sign up during P.E. last Friday, please come to the Counseling Center to register.

Class of 2016:  It’s time to think about Graduation.  Moments with Class/Herff Jones will be here Friday, October 2nd.  They will be taking your Graduation Announcement and Cap & Gown orders from 8:00 to 1:00 P.M. in the Counseling hallway.  This will be your only chance to order in school and many items are pre-delivered on Order Day.  Don’t miss out!

Picture Re-takes:  If you need to have your picture retaken for the yearbook, you still have a chance.  On Monday, October 5th Lifetouch will be set up in the Auditorium Lobby during lunch for picture re-takes.

Also, we still have several picture packets in the Main Office of students that have purchased pictures and never picked them up.

After school tutoring begins today after school from 2:00 to 3:30 in room B325.

Congratulations to the Moline Girls Golf team for capturing second place in the Western Big 6 Conference meet. Moline’s Megan Medinger shot an impressive score of 71 which earned her a 2nd place finish.

Also, congratulations to Eric Spurgetis for finishing 2nd in the Western Big 6 Conference golf meet. And congratulations to the entire Boys Golf team on their 2nd place finish in the conference.

Congratulations to the Family and Consumer Science Department for winning the Homecoming Hallway Decorating Contest.  Pam Gross and Lori Clancy have graciously chosen to pay-it-forward by giving their Happy Joe’s breakfast pizza to the students in the Learning Grounds Café, the second place finishers in the contest.

Do you need help with your homework assignments?  After School Tutoring will be available on Wednesdays when we have early release days.  Stop in B325 to get assistance!  It will be available from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.  Stop by and stay as long as you need to get the support you need!

Any girl going out for Track this spring is invited to ride on the Girl’s Track and Field truck in the Homecoming Parade.  Please see Mr. Bohnsack in E301.

Get your tickets for Friday’s Comedy Sportz show at the Bookstore for 3.00 before they are all gone!  Remember to have your Period 5, 6, & 7 teachers sign your ticket prior to Friday!

Homecoming is right around the corner.  Get your Homecoming tickets by Wednesday!  Ticket prices will go up to $20.00 Thursday and tickets will be $25.00 at the door.  Also, return your guest permission slips by Wednesday to avoid the $5.00 late charge on Thursday and Friday.

SENIORS:  Just let this sink in…One day soon you’ll be at your last Friday night football game.  One day you’ll be taking your last test and eating your last school lunch.  One day you’ll have your last fire drill and your last school dance.  One day you’ll be closing your locker and walking out of these doors for the last time.  One day you may barely remember the memories until you find a picture that makes you think of your former classmates. Now is your chance to purchase a panoramic picture of your entire senior class.  This group portrait of the Class of 2016 will be taken Wednesday, September 23rd at 8:55 A.M. outside the West Gym.

COUNSELING CENTER

High-ranking Moline High School juniors are eligible to take the PSAT-NMSQT exam on Wednesday, October 14.  This exam is designed to give academically talented juniors practice with standardized testing in the format of the SAT, and it is also the ONLY OPPORTUNITY juniors have to qualify for National Merit Scholar status.

Because the test is only offered on a school day this year, students electing to take the exam will be excused without penalty from periods 1-5 on the day of the exam.  Students will be bused from MHS to WIU-QC Campus for the test.  Lunch will be provided at no extra cost to students. Buses will depart from the Moline High School Counseling Center Doors promptly at 8:00 a.m.

If you are a junior interested in taking this optional exam, see Mrs. Sanders or Mrs. Thompson in the Counseling Center until September 30th.   Slots are filled on a first-come, first serve basis and will only be held with the $25 testing fee.  (Checks should be made out to Moline High School.)  Spaces are limited and will open to sophomores on September 23rd, so all interested juniors are encouraged to sign up and pay as soon as registration begins.  No late registration will be accepted.

Students who are concerned about the environment and the Mississippi River:  See Mrs. Ryser to sign up for the 2015 Upper Mississippi River Conference Student Summit sponsored by River Action.

Augustana College is having a fall Open House on Saturday, September 26th.  There will be a $4000.00 Fall Visit Scholarship Contest.  If you would like to register or need more information, please come to the Counseling Center.

There is a volunteer opportunity at QC Haunted Forest through the month of October.  If you are interested in more information, please see Mrs. Thompson in the Counseling Center.
