HOSA is inviting everyone to come and listen to a guest speaker discussing chiropractic and careers in J138 at 3:00 P.M.

Attention next year’s Link Leaders!  You only have one more opportunity to attend a required Spring Development Day. If you have not attended on Monday or Tuesday this week, plan to be in the West Gym on Thursday from 7 – 9 pm.  If you do not attend one of these required trainings, you will not be able to participate as a Link Leader in the fall.  We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Tickets for this year’s JR/SR prom “Prom on Fire” are on sale now in the bookstore. Prom is on Saturday May 10th at the Davenport River Center. Tickets are $15.00.

As we come to the close of the year, all library materials and any fines or fees are due by the end of the day May 9th…just a week from Friday.  Don’t let overdue books and fines keep you from receiving your yearbook on time.  Please get your materials returned soon.  Thank you.

The theme for Thursday’s Senior ABC Countdown is Neon day.

Seniors:  Do you know where you are going to college in the fall?  Have you asked Mrs. Hastings to send your final transcript there?  Make sure you do so before the end of the year!  Mom and Dad can’t do this for you, it is a privacy law!

This Saturday, our MHS Special Olympic team will be competing at the local track and field competition in Monmouth, IL. There are extra seats on the bus if you would like to go along as a spectator. Please stop in room J108 today for a permission slip.

The Kaleidoscripts are in! There will be an all staff meeting today in B215 at 3:15 P.M. Please attend!

The Drama Club meets today after school in room E204.

FCA will be meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 A.M. in room E215.

The Moline Booster Scholarship for male candidates has been extended with a due date of May 1st.  Applications may be downloaded from the counseling website. Completed applications must be turned into Mr. Bodeen in the Counseling Center.

Open gym for boys’ basketball will be held on Tuesday and Thursday at Coolidge at 3:30 P.M.

One Act Festival is Saturday, April 26th at 7:00 P.M. in the auditorium. Admission is only $1.00

Prom is coming soon!  Tickets will go on sale Monday, April 28 for $15.00 per person.  On Wednesday, May 7th tickets will go up to $20.00 and then will be $25.00 at the door.  If you are bringing a guest to Prom, make sure to get your visitor form turned into the bookstore before Wednesday.

Congratulations to all current and newly inducted members of National Honor Society!  The Birdies for Charity forms and deposit box are available in the Counseling Center.  Seniors who will be writing thank you notes to the Griffith family for their scholarships may get the address of Mrs. Griffith in the Counseling Center, also.

Natural Helpers lunch will be canceled for today and will resume next Monday.

All HOSA members stop by J138 at 3:05 today for details and turn in permission slips for the upcoming field trips.

Drama Club is canceled for today.

The University of Illinois Extension is starting two special interest clubs.  One club is not your ordinary cooking club.  Food Challenge is designed for you to create your own recipes.  The second club is learning to make a quilt.  See Mrs. Dexter for details.

Anyone interested in pre-med or medical school, HOSA is sponsoring two guest speakers today at 3:00 in room J138.  All HOSA members are required to be there for field trip sign up.

COUNSELING CENTER

The Blanche Wood Music Award Scholarship is now available to MHS students only.  Applicants must have excellent musical ability and plan on studying music at some level after graduating high school.  Applications may be downloaded from the Counseling website.  This scholarship has a due date of May 1.

The Alex Hallene Memorial Scholarship has been extended with a due date of April 23.  This scholarship is open to MHS students only that plan on attending the University of Illinois.  Download an application from the Counseling website.

Attention new Link Leaders!  Congratulations on being selected for next year’s Link Crew!  In order to confirm your spot as a Link Leader, each of you must stop in the Counseling Center to complete the acceptance process.  Any Link Leader who fails to confirm his or her placement by 3:30 p.m. today will be replaced with another qualified candidate.  Thank you to all who applied, and please consider applying again next year if your name did not make the list this year.

Thespian forms are due by the end of the day today. If you do not get your thespian forms turned in, you will not be recognized at the thespian banquet.

Attention seniors who are planning to go to Black Hawk College in the fall:  If you have not applied to Black Hawk College, taken the Compass Test, or made an advising appointment yet, please come to the Counseling Center today to sign up to complete these steps.  Advising at Black Hawk started April 1st for next fall. The recruiter from Black Hawk will be here on Wednesday, April 16th to meet with seniors to get them ready for their advising appointments.

The Justin Sharp Memorial Scholarship is now available to graduating senior students.  Applicants must have at least a 3.25 GPA.  This scholarship may be downloaded from the counseling website and has a due date of June 1, 2014.

Your hard work was very much appreciated by the residents of the Washington community and Moline School District. You did a wonderful job representing MHS. Way to go!
