Kaleidoscript will be meeting next Tuesday in room B220 for In-Design training. Please plan to be there so we can start this year’s book!

Attention students! Kaleidoscript is accepting all kinds of art to put in our yearly publication!  If you design a winning cover for our magazine, you will receive a gift card!  If you make the most remarkable pieces of art or literature, you also get a gift card. All entries are due March 1st!

COUNSELING CENTER

The Moline Foundation is now offering 10 scholarships worth over $30,000 to Moline High School students exclusively.  The due date for these scholarships is March 3 and applicants may apply online from the Counseling website.

The MHS PTSA Scholarship is now available to MHS senior students only.  The due date for this scholarship is March 19 and all information may be obtained from the counseling website.

Congratulations to the Frosh/Soph Academic Team for an undefeated win at Sterling on Saturday!  Contributing to this victory were Adrian McDevitt, eela Mostafa, Nathan Fields, Eli DeWilde, Max Park, and Team Captain Divya Badri.  Well done, team!  We will have a practice on Thursday to prepare for this Saturday’s tournament in Geneseo.

HOSA members will have a brief meeting today at 3:00 in J138.

Attention Sophomore and Junior Yearbook Staff:  We want to finish your sections , so please come to the publication’s office after school today.  Don’t forget!!

Bible Study will be meeting in J210 from 3:10-3:40 today.  We will be discussing relationships.  Everyone is welcome.

The French Club/Spanish Club crepes and nachos party is postponed until Thursday 1/30.  Don’t forget to sign up if you are coming and if you can bring an item.  See your French teacher or Mrs. Johnson.

COUNSELING CENTER

Juniors–The last day to do your online scheduling is today.  You must turn in your course request sheets and your printed online schedule to the Counseling Center today.

If you have taken two Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit Classes through Black Hawk College and are taking a third one or if you are taking a Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit Honors English class, you will need to sign up to take the Compass Test here at Moline High School on February 5th, 6th, 18th, or 19th.  You must sign up no later than the day before your intended Compass Test date in the Counseling Center.

Authentic Voices members:  If you are interested in attending the Young Women’s Conference on January 31st, you must have your permission forms turned in TODAY to Mrs. Dexter in the Counseling Center.

HOSA is putting on a chiropractic and acupuncture presentation today at 3:00 in J138.  If you have any questions, see Mr. Mahieu.

Tickets are available in the bookstore all this week and will also be sold at the door: $6.00 for students and $8.00 for adults. Come see this outer space adventure in the play written just for Moline High School Theater.

2014 Graduates: Please check your name on the diploma list outside the Registrar’s Office.  This is how it will appear on your diploma.  Make all changes with Mrs. Hastings.  Changes made after January 27, 2014 will cost $5.00.

To quote Patches O’Houlihan, “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!”  Sign up for the Intramural Dodge Ball tournament at the bookstore which will be held Wednesday Jan 22 at 6:30 in the East Gym.  There will be a prize for the championship team AND the team with the best uniform/costume!

The Intramural basketball championship game will be held at Wharton Field House on Wednesday, January 29th starting at 8:30.

Three scholarships are now available for graduating seniors through Trinity Hospital.  Students must be pursuing a degree in math, sciences, or the medical field.  Download the application off of the Counseling Website.  The due date for these scholarships is February 4.

Congratulations to Jared Sountris for winning two gold medals at the Special Olympics ski competition yesterday. Jared will move on to the state competition in Galena, IL in early February. Congratulations again, Jared, and good luck at state!

On Saturday the varsity Academic Team competed in the annual Rotary tournament in Macomb, had a 5-0 record in the morning rounds and finished 3rd out of 24 teams.  Congratulations to Pranav Puri, Eric Sheidler, Ben Wolf, Binnie Anberber, Steffen Timmer, Jon McGehee, and Will Fisher.
