Attention:  Anyone who would like to join Key Club, our first meeting is this Thursday in room J208 at 3:10.   Key Club is our student-lead service and volunteer organization that is key to your future!  We participate largely in the Student Hunger Drive, run the powder puff football game, United Way, run the talent show, and more!  Stop by this Thursday to learn more.

The following scholarships are now available for MHS students:

  1. The Acorn Equality Scholarship – due September 27
  2. The Moline High School National Honor Society Scholarship – due January 31, 2014

SPORTS

Intramurals:  Sign up at the Bookstore for the FREE Mini Putt Golf Outing Wednesday, September 11th at 7:00 P.M. at River Valley Mini Golf.  Trophies will be awarded to Men’s and Women’s Champions.

Any girl interested in playing basketball this year and not playing a fall sport, there will be a brief meeting this Friday morning in the West Gym at 7:50 or 8:50 depending

on your starting time.  Questions?  See Coach Ford, Coach Ritchie, or Coach SantAmour

Any high school boy interested in playing basketball, who is not playing a fall sport, should attend an informational meeting right after school on Thursday in room B152.

All National Honor Society members: The mandatory meeting to elect officers is Tuesday, August 27th at 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria.

Student Congress is accepting T-shirt designs for Homecoming.  This year’s theme is: “Homecoming in Hollywood.” Designs must be in jpeg format and e-mailed to Mr. Carlough by Thursday, August 29th.

All freshmen football players meet in E107 after school today.

Come to tomorrow’s Drama Club/Thespian meeting.  It’s right after school in E204.  Everyone is welcome.

All National Honor Society members:  Ballots to elect officers and sign up to be committee chairs are due today, Friday Aug.23rd at 3:00.  The mandatory meeting to elect officers is Tuesday, August 27th at 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria.

Debate:  Students interested in the Debate Team, please come to an informal meeting today, after school, in room J-220.

Intramurals:  MHS Intramurals is pleased to host the Annual Mini Putt Golf Outing on Wednesday, Sept. 11th at River Valley Mini Golf at 7:00 P.M.  The event is FREE – but the field is limited to the first 72 people to sign up in the Bookstore.  There will be a trophy awarded to the Men’s and Women’s champions.

Clinic:  All freshmen who have not turned in their physicals to the Clinic please do so as soon as possible.  Also, any students with Tdap immunizations please turn these in to the Clinic as well.

National Honor Society members:  The Junior Maroons football organization is looking for volunteers to help with concessions on Saturdays in September and October.  If you are interested in volunteering, please see Mrs. Ryser in the Counseling Center.

The yearbook staff is looking for staff photographers who are willing to take pictures at games and school events.  This position does require time in the late afternoons and evenings.  A camera is provided if you do not have one.  Please go to B206 to get an application before the end of school on Friday.  Thanks-The “M” Staff.
