SPORTS

All fall sports start on Wednesday, Aug. 14th. If you plan on participating in a sport, the free physicals will be offered on Monday, Aug. 12th at 7:00 pm at Community Health Care Center located at 1106 4th Ave. Moline.

 

Anyone interested in running cross country next fall needs to attend a brief meeting after school today in room E111. See Coach Taylor of you are unable to attend.

 

Any boys interested in playing basketball next year need to attend a brief meeting in the west gym right after school. If you can’t make the meeting, see Coach Schimmel.

 

MISC

No charging will be allowed in the cafeteria for the remainder of the school year. You must have a positive balance in order to use your lunch account.

 

Please make sure you turn in your textbooks to the teachers who issued them before your last day of school. Also, please return all library books as soon as possible.

 

There will be a dedication ceremony for the Butterfield Prairie today at 3:30. We hope to see many of you there!

Seniors – you are all invited to attend Project Graduation on May 24 at the Two Rivers YMCA.  There is no cost for you to attend, just show up with the wavier that has been mailed to your home and have a great time.  There is no need to panic, a copy of the waiver can also be obtained at the Project Graduation webpage. This link is attached to the front page of the MHS website. Everyone gets a prize to take home.  Doors open at 10pm and the event ends at 4am.  It is highly recommended to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.  The Project Graduation Committee hopes to see all of you there.

COUNSELING CENTER

COUNSELING CENTER

The Rock Island County Board is now offering a $1000 scholarship to students who plan on attending Black Hawk College or Western Illinois University.  Download the application from the Counseling website.  This scholarship has a due date of June 1, 2013.

Although Spring has sprung, remember school attire must cover undergarments, shorts and shirts must be appropriate in length, and shirts may not be strapless or display any reference to drugs, alcohol or weapons.

Students: please remove your bike locks from the bike rack this weekend. The bike rack is being painted.

A new Frisbee Golf Club is starting at MHS. If you are interested, come to the meeting after school in Mr. Mahieu’s room.

 

ALL Academic Team members are reminded that the potluck picnic starts at 5:45 tonight at Riverside Park.  We will be there rain or shine.  If you have not turned in your food sheet to one of the coaches, bring a side or main dish to share.  Come to the east pavilion area off 34th Street.  Table service and drinks provided.

 

The final Authentic Voices meeting of the year is Friday during 2nd or 3rd period. You may choose one period to attend. You will meet in the dance room next to the west gym.

The end of the year is here and the yearbooks have arrived.  Distribution to seniors will be in the library after convocation on Monday, May 13th (to all seniors who attend wearing cap & gown).  All juniors, sophomores, and freshmen may pick up their books in the library after school on Tuesday, May 14th.  If you still need to buy a book, please do it now, so you are guaranteed a yearbook for 2013.

If you will turn 18 before November 5th and have not yet registered to vote, you may do so in the library any time.

There is a mandatory Kaleidoscript meeting in B215 at 3:15 today. All staff must attend! Please make arrangements to stay at least until 3:45. Also, turn in T-shirt money ASAP!

 

Drama Club will meet today after school in E204. See you then!

 

Attention Key Club members: Do you want to be an officer for the 2013-2014 school year?  We need a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Bulletin Editor.  Stop by and see Ms. Ciucci or Ms. Suss to put your name in for elections.  Elections are today after school.  All Key Club members must be in attendance to vote for next year’s officers.  Officers should prepare a short speech.  See you there!

 

Natural Helpers will be having their annual picnic today at Stephen’s Park.

 

Team members are reminded to pick up a picnic form from one of the coaches and to return it by today. The picnic is Thursday, rain or shine!

Congrats girls track for winning the Western Big 6 girls track meet! Conference champs are: Taylor Jefford- 100M hurldes & 300M hurdles, Haley VerBeke-600M run & 3200M run, Rose Gamamou-high jump, Ali Patch-pole vault, and Erica Lopez-discus. Congratulations!!

With early dismissal Wednesday, Metro Link buses will still pick up in both locations, by the tennis courts and also on the Avenue.
