Today is the last day to buy tickets to the talent show!  They are only $3.00 at the bookstore.  Make sure your 7th period teacher signs it and come enjoy some amazing talent before you leave for Spring Break!

 

COUNSELING CENTER

Winnie’s Wishes Resale Shop is having a prom event on Saturday, March 23rd from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 902 E. River Drive Davenport.  Many new and gently used formals, dresses, and accessories will be priced under $25.00.  The proceeds will benefit the domestic violence shelter.

 

MISC

Attention sophomores and juniors!  Today is the deadline for Link Crew applications.  All applications must be submitted by 3:30 p.m. today – no exceptions!  Remember, all current Link Leaders must re-apply if interested in participating next year.

 

Are you interested in acting but haven’t been in a show before? Here’s your chance…the student directed One-Acts will be having sign-ups today for audition times. Auditions will be the Tuesday we return from Spring Break at 3:30. Sign up on the drama board across the hall from the library. Don’t miss out on these productions!

Many colleges are now accepting nominations and applications for their pre-college programs for high school students. Many applications are due in April and most have fees associated with the program. You may access the current list of available programs from the counseling page of the school website or by visiting Mrs. Sanders in the counseling center.

Seniors who are planning to attend Black Hawk College this summer or next fall:  Karen Dahlstrom will be here at MHS on Thursday, March 21st to meet with students to help them complete the enrollment process for Black Hawk College.  She will also help students to sign up to take a Compass Test at Black Hawk College during spring break.  Summer and Fall scheduling starts at Black Hawk on April 2nd, so this is a perfect time to make sure that you have completed all of the necessary steps.  Sign up in the Counseling Center for an appointment.

Herff Jones is proud to be the official graduation announcement and cap & gown provider to Moline High School. The announcements are in and they are being delivered today until 3:00pm in the AUD lobby. Everything EXCEPT the Caps & Gowns will be handed out today.

A huge thank you goes out to ALL the students who tried out for this year’s Student Talent show. It was a tough decision but the qualifying acts have been approved. Any swimmers from the boys or girls teams who have locks on their lockers in the swimming locker room must remove those locks before Spring Break or the locks will be cut off and the contents discarded. Also, if you have not turned in your warm-ups, you must do so before Spring Break or you will be billed.

 

MISC

Attention, sophomores and juniors! Are you interested in helping transition our incoming freshmen to MHS? Link Crew applications will be available starting next Monday, March 18th. Current Link Leaders must re-apply with a bright green colored application and all new applicants need to fill out a bright blue colored form. Next week, you can stop by B107, the Counseling Center, B208, J222, or B316 to pick up an application. The deadline for returning applications is Friday, March 22nd.

 

All sophomores and juniors must check the list outside the clinic. If your name is on the list, you are required to show proof of receiving a Tdap vaccine by fall registration.

 

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is here!!  It will be presented tonight at 7:30 p.m., tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Over 100 of Moline’s finest, talented performers will dazzle you with music, dancing, and over the top costumes. Don’t miss out…..this show will be talked about for years to come. Tickets are also available at the door…come early because the last time this show was presented at MHS, we sold out!!

Three new scholarships are being offered to graduating senior students from the Trinity Health Foundation.  Complete descriptions and applications may be downloaded from the Counseling website:

 

1.  The CVM Illinois Youth Mentoring Scholarship (due 4/8)

2.  The Lynn Vermeer Youth Scholarship (due 4/1)

3.  The Kenneth Moburg Scholarship (due 4/1)

The Quad Cities Chapter of the Links is now offering its scholarship.  Students must have a 2.5 GPA.  This scholarship may be downloaded from the counseling website and has a due date of April 13.

 

Attention sophomores and juniors.  The deadline for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) weekend has been extended until Wednesday of this week.  For an application, please see Mr. Bodeen in the Counseling Center.

 

MISC

Congratulations Polar Plunger’s for winning 3rd place, the “Bronze Plunger”. Our team raised $3,000 for Quad City Area Special Olympics! The “Bronze Plunger” will be proudly displayed on the counter in the library.

 

Attn all student athletes: If you are currently in a spring sport, you must be passing at least five classes to be eligible to participate. Fall and winter athletes: you must pass at least five classes this semester to be eligible to participate in your sport next year. ALL athletes must pass at least five classes all year round to be eligible to participate in ANY sport.

The following local scholarships are now available to Moline High School seniors only. Complete descriptions and applications may be downloaded from the Counseling Website.  All scholarships are due April 15 and must be turned in to Mr. Bodeen.  The scholarships are as follows:

SPORTS

The first mandatory tennis practice is Wednesday at 3:00. Please bring a snow shovel and plan on being there until 5:30. You must attend this practice to participate in the first competition.

 

MISC

The Library is offering Book Amnesty! All this week, bring in your overdue books and the fine will be waived. This only includes books returned this week.

The list of department honors for the Business & Technology department is now posted outside room B314 and in all the Business and Technology classrooms.  Please check the list and if your name is not included on the list and you feel you should be included on the list then please contact a business teacher and also check for the correct spelling of your name.
