Students going to the Illinois High School Theatre Fest must have the 2nd payment of $80 turned in BEFORE finals today!

 

There are still sign-up sheets on the Drama Bulletin Board right across from the library for Stage Crews for “The Yellow Boat.” If you are interested in helping out with the winter play, please sign up this week.

MISC

The Diploma List has been posted outside the Registrar’s office.  Please check your name as this is how it will appear on your diploma. Changes made after January 20th will cost $5. See Mrs. Hastings for any changes.

Holiday Sale!  Junior and Senior Powder Puff t-shirts just went on sale.  At these discounted prices they won’t last long!  Give them as gifts or keep a souvenir for yourself.  Get down to the bookstore before they are sold out!

All Authentic voices members are welcome to join us for the tea! Bring your lunch to B128 today during your lunch. Cookies and punch will be provided in honor of our early graduating seniors!

Key Club is having a holiday party after school today in the cafeteria. Bring your good cheer and a treat to share if plan to help celebrate another successful season! This will be the last time this year to purchase a Key Club t-shirt or to pay your dues. Happy Holidays and see you there!

Congratulations to the Academic Team members for their performance on the Fall Knowledge Master Open.  Out of 550 plus schools participating in the contest, the Maroons were in the top 30 percent and placed 8th in Illinois.  Good luck to the Fresh-Soph squad at Macomb on Saturday.  

 

There shall be NO Art Club again this week.

 

The Science Club will meet in E301 after school to discuss t-shirts. New members are always welcome!

 

The Spanish Club party scheduled for Thursday has been canceled. We will have a party sometime in January instead.

Student Congress will meet tonight in the cafeteria at 6:30.

 

Latinos Unidos: We will be meeting Tuesday after school in J322 from 3:10 – 3:45.  We will be making Christmas crafts. Hasta Luego!

 

Attention all theatre students who will be attending the Illinois High School Theatre Fest – There is a mandatory meeting on Tuesday right after school in Room E204. You must attend if you are planning on going to Theatre Fest.

SPORTS

Any Girl interested in track & field needs to attend a short meeting TUESDAY in room E-301 at 3:11.  Any girl interested in working out is invited to do so immediately after the meeting from 3:30 – 4:15.  For additional information, see Mr. Bohnsack in room E-301.

The winners of the Share Joys Paint the Library Windows competition were:

3rd place Lauren Brown and Michelle Santiago

 

Congratulations to all the participants.  Not only did we raise money for Share Joys, but your art work brought the holiday spirit to our media center!  A big thank you from the Library Media Center Staff.

COUNSELING CENTER

The GFWC Illinois Chapter is now offering six different scholarships worth from $300 to $1000.  Students must be pursuing degrees in the following fields:  education, conservation, music, art or library science.  Applications may be downloaded off of the counseling website.  These scholarships are due February 15, 2013.

 

MISC

Come to the library to vote for your favorite window, just one ticket per vote! Vote often!!

 

Join the Share Joys tradition and attend the NHS Variety Show 7th period today. Tickets are on sale at the bookstore for just $3. Tickets must be signed by 7th period teachers so get yours right away!

 

Gift wrapping is still available in room J108 today for 2 tickets per package. Contact Robin Heiar if you have questions. When you drop off your gifts to be wrapped, purchase a no-bake cookie for just 1 ticket!

 

Are you ready for Burgers on the Patio?  Student congress will be grilling ¼ lb select burgers during lunches for share joys today and Friday.  Burgers are 9 tickets for one or 16 tickets for 2.  Cheese burgers will be 10 tickets for 1 or 18 tickets for 2.   Also Student congress will have cotton candy available throughout the day.

 

Attention all students wishing to help with the Share Joy shopping this coming Sunday at Sears from 7 A.M. to 11 A.M. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Blackall in B-201 today to sign up and pick up the information sheet.

Rehearsal for the Improv room is from 3-4:00 in the auditorium lobby. Don’t forget, only the people who have attended the majority of the rehearsals will be scheduled to work the improv room. 

 

Spanish Club will meet tomorrow. You will pick a t-shirt and plan the Christmas party!

 

ALL Academic Team members are reminded to attend the KMO tomorrow night beginning at 6:30 p.m. in room E-204.  Snacks and drinks provided.  We should be finished by 8:30 p.m.  See Mrs. Anderson or Mr. Pitz if you have questions

 

Kaleidoscript announces a second creative arts contest! We are accepting any artwork, poems, lyrics, short stories, photography, visual essays, and digital art from now until December 11th. It can be holiday-themed based submissions or uniquely not! Please see Mrs. MacLennan or Mrs. Hays for additional information. Three winners will receive gift certificate awards!

 

COUNSELING CENTER

The Beta Sigma Psi Scholarship is now open to male students who are Lutheran that plan on attending University of Illinois, Indiana University, University of Missouri or Purdue University.  The scholarship is worth $1500 and is due February 15, 2013.  Download an application from the Counseling Website.

 

The Riverbend Animal Clinic is in need of a kennel assistant. Come down to the counseling center to get details. See Mrs. Dexter for details.

 

SPORTS

Congrats to the Moline Girls’ bowling team! They took 1st this weekend at the Kewanee invite. Jessica Howell won high series. Varsity members included Hannah Ceurvorst, Brook Lodge, Lucy Hubbard, Aimee Becht, Jessica Howell, Ali Imming, and Lila Torres.

Today is the final rehearsal for Chamber Choir. You will meet in the choir room at 3:15 and rehearse until at least 4:30. This is a mandatory rehearsal. You must be signed up on the schedule of performances by today in order to perform in any of the performances.

 

Staff and Students:  Do you have an extremely ugly Christmas sweater lurking around in your closet?  It could be worth a $100 Best Buy gift card.  On Wednesday, December 5th at 7:30 a.m. before school in the auditorium lobby, Blaze Restoration is hosting the first annual ugly Christmas sweater contest.  They will choose one male student, one female student and one MHS staff member to win $100 gift cards for the ugliest Christmas sweater in their category.  Blaze will also donate $10.00 to Share Joys  for every MHS staff member or student who shows up to participate in the contest.  Let’s pack the auditorium lobby Wednesday morning to raise a lot of money for Share Joys!
