There is a Kaleidoscript meeting in B215 at 3:15 today. All K staff please attend. Please bring any lollipop money with you. Also, there is a new box of lollipops to sell! See you there!!

 

Key Club members, stop by the cafeteria after school today to find out what your job is for the Empty Bowls Project this evening. Also, we will have the last two sign-up sheets for the last of the Student Hunger Drive events.

 

Spanish Club is having their Day of the Dead party after school Thursday in J328. Sign up in your Spanish class.

 

The mandatory Share Joys kick off meeting for National Honor Society is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6th at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium lobby.

 

COUNSELING OFFICE

There will be a very short meeting on Thursday, November 1st in the Counseling Center immediately after school for all students who want to raise money in the Donut Eating Contest for Share Joys this year.

 

SPORTS

Any baseball player interested in off season hitting opportunities this fall & winter please see Coach Craig Schimmel in the West Gym for information.

 

MISC

If you like to laugh, you should come see Moline High School’s Fall Play, NOISES OFF.  Tickets are currently on sale in the bookstore or you can buy them at the door this Thursday, Friday or Saturday: November 1, 2, and 3rd at 7:30 p.m.

 

Junior and Senior girls interested in playing in this year’s Powder Puff game need to have permission slip and money turned into the Bookstore by tomorrow. If you don’t have a signed slip by your parent or guardian, you will NOT be able to play. If you are interested in a t-shirt but don’t want to play, that form is also located at the bookstore.

 

The 2ns junior girls powder puff practice will be tomorrow right after school on the freshman field. If you have any questions, just ask a junior coach. Hope to see everyone there!

 

Student Congress will be hosting the Semi-Annual Blood Drive in the west Gym this Friday November 2nd.  Sign-up in the cafeteria during you lunch, today through Thursday. If you are 16 or older you may donate.  Each pint donated can save up to 3 lives, please give.

 

Audition appointments are now available for the winter play “The Yellow Boat.” This is a larger cast production, so we’re looking for a wide variety of talented actors and actresses. We are especially looking for a youthful-looking male to play the lead, and graceful females and males to be a part of the movement ensemble.  If you are interested, please come by Room B214, right across from the library, and sign up for your audition appointment. SPORTS

All girls not involved in a fall sport who are interested in trying out for basketball, need to attend the mandatory meeting concerning try-outs, today at 3:15 in the east gym.

Students attending the Illinois High School Theatre Fest are reminded to get your first payment in by tomorrow. If your payment isn’t in, your spot will be given to someone on the waiting list.

The Naomi Hildebrand Scholarship is now available to those senior students who plan on majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences next year.  The scholarship is worth $500, may be downloaded from the counseling website and has a due date of February 28, 2013.

 

Western Illinois University, QC campus, is having a visit day Friday, October 19th from 1-3:30 p.m. 

Augustana College is having a visit day this Saturday, October 20th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  There is a Friday overnight component in conjunction with this visit day for first generation college students or multicultural students.

Who likes to dress for PE? That’s right – NO ONE!  If you are like the majority of us who don’t like dressing for PE, stop by the bookstore a buy a PE “No Dress” pass. The pass is only $1 and can be used THIS FRIDAY during your PE class. Don’t wait for long lines – get your PE “No Dress” pass before school, after school, or during your lunch. All money will help MHS buy food for the Student Hunger Drive. 

 

Senior T-Shirt order forms and money are due this Friday, October 19th.  Please turn them into the bookstore.

 

Just a reminder—You can pay off your fines in the library with canned goods. Bring in a can of food for each $.50 you owe in fines. Help yourself and benefit the Student Hunger Drive!

 

And finally…special acknowledgement and a very big thank you to four of our students who took care of a lost little boy, called for help, and stayed with him until he could get a police escort home yesterday afternoon. There will be a Kaleidoscript meeting in B215 at 3:15 on Tuesday. All members plan to attend! We are discussing the current contest and fundraisers! If you can’t make it, please see Mrs. MacLennan or Mrs. Hays.

 

The Mr. Moline Competition is back! Please join MHS Key Club for a fun evening on Tuesday the 16th and see which Senior will be crowned Mr. Moline and which Junior will get the Junior Maroon award.  All money will help buy food for Moline’s Student Hunger Drive. Stop by the bookstore before school, after school, or during your lunch period to buy a ticket for just $3.00.  Everyone is welcome so spread the word!

 

The first payment of $80 for the Illinois Theatre Fest is due Friday, October 19th. If payments aren’t made by that date, your spot will be given to someone on the waiting list.  

 

COUNSELING CENTER

The Illinois Section American Water Works Association is now taking applicants for the Safe Scholarship Award.  This scholarship is worth up to $3500 and is due by January 7, 2013.  Visit the Counseling Website to download an application.

 

The Mediacom World Class scholarship is now available to current senior students.  The scholarship is worth $1000 and has a due date of February 15, 2013.

The Moline girls’ tennis team, winners of the Western Big 6 conference for the 11th straight year, will be in action today and tomorrow in the sectional, to be held at Moline High School and Riverside Park. Come cheer on the conference champions as they vie for sectional honors!

The P.E. department is looking for certified lifeguards. If you are certified and interested in lifeguarding for the swimming units, please see any P.E. teacher today.

MISC

You must present your I.D. in the cafeteria in order to purchase a lunch. Beginning Monday, Oct. 1st if you do not have your ID you will be sent to the end of the lunch line.

Students who cut in line at lunch will be sent to the end of that line. Students who repeatedly cut will receive lunch detention.

Students are not permitted to wear hats in the building. You must remove your hat before entering MHS. Your hat will be taken if you choose to violate this rule.

 

Picture re-takes are being done in the auditorium today. If you are having re-takes done, you MUST bring your unwanted package with you and return it at the time of your photo re-take. Students who have not been photographed at all, may have their photos done today as well. Extra order forms are available in the main office.

 

Order your yearbook now while you can still get one for only $50.  The price will increase to $55 on October 12th.
