CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS 

Authentic Voices members are meeting today. 11th and 12th graders should be in E204 at this time. 9th and 10th grade meets in E204 period 6.

 

Sign club will meet today after school in room B131.

 

Art Club will meet at 3:15 today in room E114. The Club will be offering a quick art lesson on lines and shapes to anyone interested. Come enjoy the creative atmosphere!

 

The drama club is selling mums for your home for $10 a piece or 3 for $25. We have a wide selection of beautiful colors to enhance your home. See any drama club member to place your order.

 

 

COUNSELING OFFICE

The Better Business Bureau Scholarship is now available to current senior students. An application and criteria for this scholarship may be downloaded from the Counseling Website. The due date for this scholarship is December 7, 2012.

 

MISC

Cap and gown orders are due tomorrow. Orders will be collected outside the counseling center until 3:30 p.m. on Friday only. The cost of the cap and gown is $29.50. With tax and shipping the cost is $38.57. Extra items may be ordered, but you need to at least order the minimum of cap and gown.

You must present your I.D. in the cafeteria in order to purchase a lunch. Beginning Monday, Oct. 1st if you do not have your ID you will be sent to the end of the lunch line.

If you cut in the lunch line you will be sent to the end of the lunch line. Students who repeatedly cut will receive lunch detention.

Students are not permitted to wear hats in the building. You must remove your hat before entering MHS. Your hat will be taken if you choose to violate this rule.

 

 

All staff and students: please show your school spirit by logging onto WQAD and voting for Moline High School. We are currently in 2nd place. Place your votes for our chance to win $5,000!

 

Picture re-takes will be done in the auditorium on Monday. If you are having re-takes done, you MUST bring your unwanted package with you and return it at the time of your photo re-take. Students who have not been photographed at all, may have their photos done that day as well. Extra order forms are available in the main office.

Come check out the Upper Mississippi River 2012 Youth Summit at WIU’s new Riverfront Campus!   It’s all FREE, even the catfish, and starts at 4:00 today at WIU. 

 

There will be an Authentic Voices meeting Thursday, September 27th during 3rd period for juniors and seniors involved in the group and 6th period for freshmen and sophomores. You will meet in E204.

 

There will be a VERY brief GSA meeting on Thursday at 3:05 to make final arrangements for your fundraiser.  Everyone who wants to be involved MUST attend!

Black Hawk College Night will be held on Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 at Black Hawk College in building 3.  There will be over 90 colleges, military, and technical schools represented.  You will be able to get valuable information about admissions, financial aid and scholarships, and programs from each of the schools attending this event. 

 

Augustana College will be having a visit day on Saturday, Sept. 29th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

If you have lost or misplaced your ID, it needs to be replaced as soon as possible @ the bookstore for $5.00.  Until the ID is replaced, students without them will be last in line in the cafeteria.

There will be no Varsity Academic Team practice today.  Practice resumes next week.  

 

 

SPORTS

There is a meeting at 3:30 today in the pool area for any boys that are interested in being on the swim team. There will be open gym Mon-Fri mornings starting at 6:00 am in the pool.

 

The Challenger Football team will be playing the Moline Football team this Sunday, September 23rd at 1:00 on Browning Field. Come join the Challenger cheerleaders, Moline cheerleaders, the drum line, and the super fans for this game! The super fans theme is Super Heroes!

 

 

MISC

A voter’s registration drive will be held in the cafeteria during all lunches today and again on Tuesday, September 25th.  Anyone who will be 18 on or before November 6th can register to exercise your right to vote.  You need two forms of ID, one with your current home address printed on it. For example, your school id and driver’s license would be perfect.  If you miss these two opportunities, Mrs. Mesick can register you in the library any time before October 9th. Make sure your voice is heard…VOTE!

 

We are still looking for one host family to house one of our visiting German students from October 17 to November 7.  If you and your family would like to find out about this opportunity, please see Mr. Pitz in room J-333 today.  The ideal host would be a sophomore or junior girl and her family.  

 

All who are interested in working on a crew for the Fall Play, Noises Off, should come to a crew meeting on Monday, September 24 at 5:30 in the auditorium.  If you have questions, please see Mr. Thomas in B208.

 

Special Olympics is in need of volunteers to help run their local 2012 bowling competition at Highland Park Lanes (here in Moline) on Sunday, October 7th from 8am-4pm. They are in need of approximately 50 volunteers to make the event a success. Please contact Mrs. Heiar in room J108 or Mrs. Ulam in room J305 if you would be available to help out. Your time and energy would be greatly appreciated! Shirts will be given to all volunteers.  We have 24 MHS athletes participating in this competition. Thanks for considering helping at this very worthwhile event!

Congratulations to those students & staff who helped with float construction. The results of the float judging were: in 4th place the class of 2013, 3rd place the class of 2016, 2nd place went to the class of 2015, and the winners for the second year in a row is the class of 2014.

Seniors! This is your last time to participate in float building. The location is Christian Friendliness on 41st St. and 12th Ave.  Be there at 5:00. All senior welcome!!!

(Checks should be made out to Moline High School). Spaces are limited, so sign up and pay as soon as possible. No late registration will be accepted.

 

The District is offering a sign language class for 10 consecutive weeks on Tuesday’s. The class begins tonight at Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per person or $25 for a family.
