SPORTS

All track girls should return their clean uniform to coach Bohnsack or coach Woods today!

Anyone interested in playing for the boys golf team this fall needs to attend a mandatory meeting today after school in the Driver Ed room. The meeting will be brief and will cover info on the upcoming summer and fall season. Anyone playing a spring sport, not able to make the meeting, should at least stop by the Driver Ed room to sign in and pick up the info that will be handed out. Any questions, contact the athletic office.

 

Don’t forget to pick up Contemporaire tryout forms in the athletic office. Tryouts start next Tuesday at 3:30 at Wharton. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Lawrence.

 

All wrestlers need to stop by the athletic office to get a Moline Wrestling Camp form.  If you did not attend the meeting you need to contact Coach Thompson by next Wednesday.

 

Free sports physicals for next year will be held at The Community Health Center located at

1106 – 4th Ave. They start at 7 p.m. Aug. 6th and will complete boys physicals first, then girls.

This is open to MHS students only.

 

MISC

Seniors who haven’t signed for a final transcript to be sent, see Mrs. Hastings to do so now! Everyone attending college in the fall needs a final transcript sent. Mom and Dad can’t do it for you after graduation!!! Do not assume Mrs. Hastings knows where you are going to school.

 

All lockers need to be cleaned out by May 23rd. Any items left behind will be discarded.

 

Metro Link buses are running the regular schedule this week. Anyone leaving earlier or later will need to go to the Ave. to catch the regular #30.

 

The MHS graduation ceremony will be broadcast live again this year from the MHS homepage. Tell your family and friends who are unable to attend the ceremony that they can still participate via the web.

Authentic Voices ladies! Today is the end of the year tea during 4th period in B131. Grab your lunch and come to eat with us or stop by after lunch for cookies and punch. We want to congratulate our seniors and say goodbye to everyone for the summer.

 

There is an Upward Bound study session after school today.

 

Drama club will meet in E204 today after school.

 

New Thespian initiates should return their information cards and $23 payment to Mrs. Griesenbeck this week. Remember, you’re not officially a Thespian until you turn this in.

SPORTS

Any girls who missed the tennis meeting but are interested in fall tennis should see Mrs. Valladares in the athletic office for information.

 

Anyone who is going out for wrestling next season needs attend the wrestling meeting with Coach Thompson today at 3:15. Also, Moline Wrestling Camp forms are now available in the athletic office.

 

Anyone planning to go out for cross country next fall needs to attend a brief meeting with Coach Taylor on Wednesday at 3:10 in room E111.

 

Contemporaire tryouts begin Tuesday May 22nd from 3:30 to 6:00 at Wharton field house. Tryout forms can be picked up in the athletic office. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Lawrence.

We are seeking students interested in construction trades to take a free class this summer. The class meets 3 hours a day through June. You will do hands-on projects, take field trips, have guest speakers, etc. Taking the class earns you ½ credit. Sign up with your counselor for this exciting experience. Again, it is free!!

 

All items in students lockers are to be removed by the last day of school, Wednesday, May 23rd. Any leftover items will be discarded.

All medication must be picked up in the clinic by a parent or guardian by the last full day of school or it will be discarded. Also, all elevator keys must be turned in by the last day of school.

 

The 2012 yearbook will be distributed early to any seniors who attend Convocation in cap and gown tonight.  After Convocation, report to the library in your cap and gown, with ID in hand to receive your copy. Seniors who did not pre-purchase may purchase a yearbook tonight.  The cost is $65.00 cash, check or money order. Yearbook distribution for the rest of the student body will be at 3:00 on Tuesday in the library. All students picking up yearbooks must have their current school ID’s and have all fines paid in order to receive their books. If you did not pre-order a yearbook, they can be purchased on Wednesday, May 16th for $65 at the bookstore.

 

All seniors are invited to attend the Convocation program tonight at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. All students who received department honors, scholarships, seniors who were club officers, and outstanding senior honors will be recognized at this ceremony. Please wear your cap and gown and join us at this ceremony.

All academic team members are reminded to get picnic forms to Coach Pitz today! The picnic is this afternoon…rain or shine.

 

Crime Stoppers will have its final meeting today after school in room B131. Thank you to all who joined. You made a big difference this year!

 

There will be a meeting of the Gay-Straight Alliance today after school in E311. You will be electing officers at that time.

 

A reminder to Authentic Voices members: if you want to attend the assembly on Friday but haven’t signed up, see Mrs. Olson or Mrs. Dexter today by 3:00 p.m.

 

COUNSELING

Attention freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are interested in engineering, science or a technology related career:  There will be a Quad Cities Summer Transportation Institute for four weeks this summer that will educate students about the different careers available in transportation.  The four week institute is free, and students who successfully graduate from the program can earn $200.00.  See Mrs. Dexter in the counseling center to apply.

 

SPORTS

Any girl interested in trying out for contemporaries should pick up a packet from the athletic department.  Clinic and tryouts will take place May 22 through May 24.

MISC

All those going on the trip to Italy, there’s a meeting after school today in Mrs. Shelton room E-208 to discuss next summer’s trip.  If you can’t make it, please see Mrs. Shelton.

There will be a Key Club meeting after school in the cafeteria today. You will plan for the end of the year party so please be there to sign up. Also, Key Club officer applications are due to Ms. Ciucci by the end of the day today.

Next year’s Link Leaders are reminded that they are required to attend one of the May Development Days being offered this week.  The second session is today after school from 5 – 7 p.m. in the WEST gym (please note the change in location.)  The last session will be held Thursday from 7 – 9 p.m. in the EAST gym.  Please be prompt and we will see you there!

 

Gamer Club is holding an end of the year party today after school! Come for the free pizza and pop and play some great games.

Prom tickets prices are $15 but they go up to $20 on Thursday so get yours today! All guest forms are due on Thursday as well. Students with negative balances in the cafeteria will not be able to purchase tickets or receive yearbooks.

 

Attention freshmen and sophomores!  This Wednesday, you will be taking a standardized test in the morning.  You will be testing with your original CCR teacher.  Please be sure to know who your teacher is and check above the drinking fountains to determine your testing classroom.  All freshmen will be testing on second floor and sophomores will be testing on third floor. Please be sure to bring two pencils and a calculator.  There will be a limited number of calculators available for use on the day of the test.  Once they have been distributed, some students may have to test without one, so plan to bring one with you on Wednesday.

 

This Wednesday, juniors need to report to the AUD for an Operation Prom presentation promptly at 8:10 a.m.  You will be dismissed for the day at 9:20 a.m.  You will be sitting with your original CCR teacher who will be taking attendance.  Please be sure you know who your teacher is and meet them at your assigned seating location in the AUD.

Seniors should report to the AUD for the Operation Prom presentation at 9:40 a.m. and sit with your CCR teacher in your assigned seating locations.  Attendance will be taken.  Seniors will be dismissed at 10:50 a.m. for the remainder of the day.

Juniors and seniors will not be allowed on second or third floors due to testing.  Juniors and seniors should enter and exit the building near the auditorium and not use any other entrances.  Thank you for your cooperation.
